James is co-founder of Zopa and is a Trustee and former CEO of Green Thing. He is a Partner of The Foundation, a leading growth and innovation consultancy where he has worked with clients including M&S, O2, Just Giving, Barclaycard, Save the Children, and HSBC.

Zopa, which launched in 2005, is the internet marketplace where people meet to lend and borrow money, and where James was CEO until 2007. Zopa was named as “1 of 11 companies that will change the world”. It was also named by CNet as “Internet Innovation of 2006”, won a Webby Award in 2007, and The Banker Award for Internet Project of 2007. In 2008 it won Best Financial Services website. Green Thing is an online not-for-profit social movement to mobilise the masses to act against climate change and lead a greener life. Green Thing won the Green Awards best digital category in 2009.

James is also an advisor to Seedrs, the world’s first online platform for investing seed capital, and to Spacehive, the world’s first funding platform for public space projects. He is Chairman of GEN Community, an industrial provident society that delivers low carbon investments as well as social impact.

James has an MBA from INSEAD and a first class honours degree from University College London. He is a keen bird watcher and is a trustee for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).
